Dead Deer Prop
Built for Raven Theatre's production of A Lie of the Mind
Altered from original build by Hannah Tarr for the Des Moines Metro Opera's Production of Pelléas & Mélisande
Original build made out of laminated pink foam sheets that were carved and covered with various deer and rabbit pelts. Altered for Raven's production by cutting in half, slightly carving, and painting the stump to give the impression of being freshly chopped in half. Faux snow spray used to give a 'frozen' look to the deer, as called for in the script.

Hurricane Diane Tree
Built for UIC's production of Hurricane Diane
Built with the help of Jonathan Berg-Einhorn & Mick Marcotte
Frame made of 3/4" plywood slotted together on top of a plywood base. Chicken wire stapled all around the plywood base in order to create a 3-dimensional canvas. Scrap fabric strips used to fabric mâché all around the structure. A tree canopy was requested after the initial structure was designed and built, so we had to scrap together plywood extenders that were toe-nailed to the existing branches at the top of the tree, that were then stapled and wrapped with chicken wire. Camo netting was used as the base of the canopy and draped organically atop the chicken wire, attached using zipties. A variety of branches/leaves/foliage bundles were then ziptied to the canopy structure.

Garden Transformation Pieces
Built for UIC's production of Hurricane Diane
Built with the help of props assistant Mick Marcotte
Several layers of laminated styrofoam sheets on top of luan that were carved into an organic shape before being coated with white glue and muslin fabric mâché. After the fabric dried, they were painted, dry brushed and spattered to create a faux dirt look before coating moss in white glue and applying to the surface. Then, holes were poked through the fabric and foam to place a variety of flowers and greenery into the base to create an overgrown look. Came netting that was torn and distressed became the base that long ivy and wisteria was attached to. At intermission, the ivy netting was flipped over the front off the fence and the garden base was placed below.

Neon Sign for Detroit '67
Built for DePaul University's Production of Detroit '67
Scenic & Props Design by Jamie Auer
Scrap of aluminum rounded and shaped to fit as sign backing. Base painted green backing and lined edges with red before using stencil to fill in lettering. Then, aged and distressed using design master spray paint. For "neon" tubing, used clear plastic tubing with wire inserted and wrapped around pegs placed within the lettering to create neon shape. Finished with electrical tape for separation on the neon lettering.
